Special Event Application 00:00:22

We have received a Special Event application for a pickleball tournament at Sonnenberg Park. The applicant, Julia Ippolito, is proposing the first annual Dyls Pickleball Tournament on either August 3rd or July 20th. This would be a fundraiser for the Dylan Smith Memorial Fund. Attendance is estimated between 150 to 200, 12 to 6 p.m. with multiple food trucks. This is a new special event therefore City Council approval is needed.

WTP Skylight Replacement 00:33:04

The skylights in the Pumphouse have reached the end of their useful service life and need to be replaced to prevent damage to expensive and critical assets within the Pumphouse. This replacement was included in the 2025 Capital Budget ($80,000). The WTP Operators need the skylights replaced with equipment hatches that will still ensure there is an entry/exit point for large equipment that may need to be placed/removed from the Pumphouse in the future. One bid was received from Aventus for $78,000. This proposal was evaluated by staff and deemed responsible and sufficient to meet the bid requirements.

Virtual Museum 00:34:47

The Finger Lakes Virtual Museum, a collaborative effort between Ontario County, Finger Lakes Visitors Connection, and Rochester Institute of Technology, aims to enhance local history through extended reality (AR/VR) and QR codes. This project transforms historical markers and landmarks into interactive experiences throughout the county. The virtual museum plans to introduce a new exhibit at Canandaigua Lakefront, focusing on the rich history of transportation and entrepreneurship. This exhibit will highlight the evolution from the Senecas to the steamboat era to the development of public parks, offering visitors a fascinating journey through time. A new sign, proposed for the east end of Kershaw Park, would need to be installed for the aforementioned exhibit which requires City Council approval.

Parcel 67-74 West Ave- Encroachment License Agreement 00:39:51

The owners of the West Avenue Plaza have approached the City about signing off on an Encroachment License Agreement. This Agreement concerns a license for a small encroachment area along the eastern property line at 64-74 West Avenue and the City property at 50 Greig Terrace. The dumpster farm area on the plaza encroaches 1.5± feet onto the City's property. The Agreement grants the plaza the right to use and maintain this area under specified conditions for an initial term of one year, automatically renewing unless terminated.

Prior Written notice local law 00:46:26

Chapter 16.2 of the City Charter, consistent with NYS General Municipal Law, details the City is not liable for damages or injuries unless there was a prior written notice and the City failed to remove the defect within a reasonable amount of time after such notice. As a result of the recent City of Albany litigation, it is recommended that a local law be adopted to specify what is considered written notification. After discussion during the March 3rd Ordinance Committee Meeting, Council requested David Hou draft amendments to our City Charter. This item was discussed at the May 5th Ordinance Committee meeting and discussion continues.
